This is an annual event driven by the need to create awareness on breast cancer on a large scale.The 2013 event which was held in Accra attracted 30,000 participants and it marked the third in succession. The previous two held in Kumasi in 2011 and 2012 attracted 15,000 and 20,000 people respectively.

The essential drugs include cancer drugs, drugs for mental patients, antihypertensives, and various antibiotics. These drugs were received to assist the poor but needy patients suffering from breast cancer and other related diseases.

Currently, BCI and Direct Relief are working together working together to address the humanitarian needs of Ghanaians through the provision of essential medical resources while adopting best practices for strengthening the integrity of the supply chain to safeguard the delivery of authentic medical materials for the ultimate protection of the recipient populations. BCI is pleased to provide these medicines to health facilities in Ghana free of charge.

Direct Relief is a leading medical relief organization, active in all 50 states and in 70 countries. It works with more than 1,000 health clinics across the U.S. to assist in emergencies and an ongoing basis, providing them with free medications for people in need. The organization has been among the world’s largest medical suppliers in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, has top charity ratings, including four-star and “top-notch” rating from Charity Navigator, and a 100% fundraising efficiency rating from Forbes magazine.

Since early diagnosis is crucial for improving survival rates among women with breast cancer, over the past twelve years, Breast Care International in collaboration with Peace and Love Hospitals have been conducting outreach programs in deprived communities by educating and screening the public for signs of breast cancer while increasing community awareness to help downstage the disease at diagnosis.
