Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women accounting for over 100 times more in women than in men worldwide. It is also the principal cause of death from cancer among women but lately, it has been known to affect men and children as well. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one woman dies from the disease every 69 seconds somewhere around the world resulting in more than 500,000 women death from breast cancer globally in 2012. Breast cancer disease burden in Ghana has risen to the tenth highest in Africa, which means that nearly 5 million of its 24 million people are reported to be at high risk for developing the disease.

BCI’s vision is to promote early detection of breast cancer in local communities, BCI will continue to partner with like-minded organizations to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to individuals and organizations so that together we can make a difference in peoples lives.
