BCI Ghana Walk for the Cure 2025: “A Cure Worth Fighting For”
Kumasi, Ghana – September 5, 2025
The streets of Kumasi will once again be awash in pink and white as Breast Care International (BCI) prepares to host the 2025 edition of Ghana’s largest Breast Cancer Awareness event — the BCI Ghana Walk for the Cure. Scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025, this year’s walk is set to be the most impactful yet, with over 30,000 participants expected from across Ghana and beyond.
Under the powerful theme “A Cure Worth Fighting For,” the walk will commence at the Adum Post Office and converge at the Manhyia Durbar Grounds, transforming the city into a vibrant space of royalty, solidarity, hope, and purpose.

But this year’s event goes beyond the traditional walk. It marks a significant rebranding of BCI, after more than 23 years of tireless dedication to women’s health in Ghana, across Africa and Globally. The new brand identity reflects BCI’s continued growth, bold vision, and reinvigorated commitment to leading the charge against breast cancer.
“This is more than just an event. It’s a movement. It’s a family. It’s survivorship, it’s hope in motion,” said Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai, Founder and President of BCI.
Dr. Wiafe Addai stressed that breast cancer should not be seen as just a personal battle for any woman, but a societal and developmental challenge requiring collective effort. The walk serves as both a call to action and a celebration of survivors, while also honoring the memory of those lives lost to the disease.
Over the years, BCI’s life-saving work has reached thousands through free breast cancer screenings, educational programs, and early detection initiatives. The annual Walk for the Cure has become a national rallying point—bringing together survivors, opinion and traditional leaders, government officials, healthcare professionals, families, students, and communities in one united mission: to defeat breast cancer.
As the world prepares to mark October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BCI invites the public to lace up, show up, and speak out. Let’s turn the streets of Kumasi pink in what promises to be a historic moment in Ghana’s public health journey.
