Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Partners Breast Care International to fight Breast Cancer in Western North Region of Ghana

Students of Bibiani College of Health Sciences applauded Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Breast Care International, Ghana (BCI) for extending Breast Awareness Campaign and Clinical Screening to Western North Region of Ghana.

The program is as part of Teva and BCI’s partnership to build breast cancer awareness, lead community efforts to advance early detection through education and to provide clinical screening. The event was hugely participated by students of the school led the proprietor, Mr. Thomas Ziema. Participants were given questionnaires to test their knowledge about breast cancer before and after education.

They were given the opportunity to ask questions bordering the minds. Three Breast Cancer Survivors who have survived the disease for 12, 20 and 21 years respectively also shared their personal experiences to clear the myths and misconception about the diseases. The BCI team was led by a renowned consultant surgeon, Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai. In her remarks, she spoke about the impact of Teva partnership in the communities and institutions visited so far. She mentioned that, there will be capacity building program as part of the project.

A visiting Surgeon and a Nurse from Senior Experten Service (SES) Germany, Prof. Henning Ritter and Yannik Pleuß who joined the BCI team were excited to be part of the event. Prof. Ritter praised Teva for partnering BCI to embark on this exercise. He said “Early Detection is the Key”.
